| The figures below are provided
for your guidance - individual rates will be worked out on application.
They are based on average ticket prices appropriate to the time of day
for time slots of 90 minutes including get-in and get-out.
Our usual usage terms are that of a weekly guarantee or 40% of your gross
box office earnings (whichever is greater). However, if required, it may
be possible to discuss other arrangements. Please call 020 7404 6411 or
0131 208 0028 if you have any questions.
We will also do our best to accommodate most lengths of show (tailoring
the fee accordingly). The prices below are for a 1.5 hour slot per seven-day
period.

What is included in the Fees?
Use of fully functioning theatre
space and dressing room during the allotted times (and for one
technical rehearsal), display of your
posters/flyers at the venue and a trained technician to assist with
tech & daily get-in/out.
Technical Rehearsals: for
companies starting their run on Thursday 5th August, we provide up to 4
hours for a tech (but please note some may be very late night / early
morning). For companies starting later on, we will accommodate for
techs but these will have to fit in around existing shows which again
is likely to mean a late night.
Lights & Sound: each space
contains stage lighting with general cover, lighting board
(computerised in Sweet Grand), sound mixing desk, mini-disc & CD
player, speakers, amplifier, microphone & stand. We can also
operate your lights & sound for you (at a cost of £12 per
performance). Remember that if you are providing your own staff, they
need to be suitably qualified. Please consult our production manager
about this or any technical questions or requirements
(tech@sweet-uk.net).
Front of House: we provide full front of
house support for each venue. However, where possible, we ask that
individual companies have someone available (not involved in the actual
performance) to help with ticket tearing and sitting in on performances.
Storage
Space: there is a limited amount available around the venue. Each
company’s requirements will be handled on an individual basis.
Over-running:
once agreed, to ensure the smooth running of change-overs, time slots
must be strictly adhered to or companies may face financial penalties
for over-running.
Design/Artwork of Flyers & Posters: you
are primarily responsible for this, however there is a general ‘house
style’ that needs to be adhered to. Details for this are on our
website. Alternatively, we have an in-house design duo who can design
flyers and posters for you at a nominal cost.
For more information email info@sweet-uk.net. Please note that all artwork must be approved by Sweet before printing.
What other costs are there?
Box
Office: the Sweet box office is computerised and linked up to the
central fringe box office. There is a box office commission of 4% for
tickets sold via the Sweet Venues’ box office. This is to help cover
the costs of this service.
Press & Marketing Support: Press
& Marketing forms an integral part of the service offered by Sweet
and cannot be covered in the guarantee alone. Therefore, for a small
fee of £70 per week (or less) run or £180 for a full run. This fee will
cover your entry in to our printed and web-based venue guides
(distributed throughout Edinburgh before and during the Festival), help
writing your 40 word copy and help with the submission of your copy
form, press release consultancy, flyer and poster design and copy
advice and much more. In short, if ever you need any support or advice
to promote your show, we are here to help you. From June we have a full
time Press and Marketing Manager to advise companies.
During
June/July we also contact the press on your behalf and distribute venue
press packs to every major arts journalist in Scotland. We also make
press packs available at the box office during the Festival. You need
to provide us with press releases in good time to be included.
Printing
of Flyers: every year we print over 100,000 flyers, if you join our
print run we may be able to save you money. Usual costs for 5,000
double sided A5 flyers delivered to Edinburgh are around £100.
Please
note: whilst we do our best to ensure the accuracy of the all
information we provide, some details may be subject to change as the
Festival approaches. Please check our website (www.sweet-uk.net) for any new developments.
