Rules & Regulations
Sweet
HD Shorts
1. Sweet HD Shorts' aim is to encourage and
facilitate the usage of HD throughout the
production process.
2.
The competition is open until
2nd May.
3.
The competition is in association with High
Definition Magazine.
Eligibility
4. Open to anyone except all employees, directors,
associates and the immediate families of Sweet
Entertainments Ltd and the Festival sponsors.
5.
The short screenplay must not have been previously
optioned, sold, or produced.
Submissions
6. Submissions to be: short film (narrative);
a minimum of 5 and maximum of 20 pages; in
any genre.
7.
The entry fee is £20 for each short
screenplay submitted. Payments must be made
in Pounds Sterling by Cheque or Credit Card
to Sweet Entertainments Limited. Please note
that the submission fee is non-refundable.
8.
The closing date for all submissions, including
completed and signed submission form(s), release
form below and submission fee is 2nd May
2005. Incomplete entries will NOT be entered
into the competition.
9.
Scripts must be in English, in industry standard
format, printed on white bound paper, all
pages numbered and no writing is permitted
on the spine of the script.
10.
In addition to the Screenplay, a schedule
must also be provided. This needs to provide
as much detail as possible and should be written
from the point of view of having won the competition.
11.
Details of any director, producers, DoP, actor(s)
or any other crew attached can be supplied.
12.
All entries must be sent by post (no hand
deliveries please) to: The Sweet HD Shorts
Competition, Sweet Entertainments Limited,
42 Theobalds Road, London. WC1X 8NW. United
Kingdom.
13.
No late entries will be accepted under any
circumstances.
14.
Sweet Entertainments Limited is not responsible
for late or lost submissions.
15.
Multiple entries are permissible, but each
entry must have its own signed Entry Form,
Release Form and entry fee.
16.
Submit one title page with the title of the
screenplay and a short synopsis (no more than
one page). This must be attached directly
to each screenplay you submit. Your name or
other personal information should NOT appear
anywhere on the title page or the script.
The synopsis will NOT be used to judge the
screenplay; it will only assist in our tracking
process. Personal information should only
be included on the entry form you submit along
with each script.
17.
Collaborative work is acceptable. You will
have to submit as many release forms as there
are writers.
18.
Please provide an E-mail address as when your
submission is received your entry will be
confirmed by E-mail only. If you move and/or
change your E-mail address please let us know.
19.
No substitution of new drafts or corrected
pages for screenplay entries will be accepted
under any circumstances.
20.
You have retained at least one copy of the
submitted material, and you understand that
all material we receive cannot and will not
be returned under any circumstances.
21.
Sweet HD Shorts cannot provide Readers' Notes
on any submitted script. Script comments will
remain the exclusive property of the company.
22.
Each screenplay will be tracked and judged
by a number that we will assign which will
be linked to your personal information to
ensure an impartial process. The judge's decision
is final. No correspondence on the decision
will be acknowledged or responded to. Furthermore,
no information regarding the judges or the
judging process will be made available.
23.
The Competition organisers reserve the right
to reject any entry for any reason at their
absolute discretion.
Winning Screenplay
24. The winning screenplay will be announced
at the Sweet HD Festival 2005 and will be
produced by Sweet Entertainments, earning
the free supply of a multitude of equipment
including HD cameras, the latest sound kit
and online HD postproduction.
25.
The winning screenplay will be featured in
HD Magazine.
26.
The final budget will be drafted in consultation
with Sweet, and in the event of any disagreement,
Sweet's decision will be final.
27.
The Competition organisers may use the services
of any crew attached to the winning screenplay
but reserve the right to appoint any of the
crew, including Director and Producer.
28.
No cash alternatives to the prize or additional
payments shall be made.
29.
Sweet reserves the right to use the winning
screenplay, in whole or in part, in future
promotions, including the Sweet HD Festival
2006.
General
30. The final cut of the short must be no
less than five-minutes and no more than fifteen
minutes duration.
31.
Submissions may be accompanied by a storyboard
and a budget.
32.
The organisers reserve the right to amend
these rules and regulations at any time by
notice on www.sweet-hd.net
33.
Entry into this competition confirms each
entrant's acceptance of these rules and regulations.
34.
Entering this contest will not limit your
copyright in any way. You retain all rights
to your property.
35.
By entering this contest, you understand and
accept that we will be free to use your name
and likeness for advertising or promotional
purposes without additional consideration.
